Public Hearing for “SMART Village Residential Development”

The Cultural Heritage Board will hold a virtual meeting on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at or after 4:30 P.M. to consider this project located at 34 W 6th St. The postcard sent from the City includes the information listed below. PROJECT DESCRIPTION – The SMART Village Residential Development Project proposes a 6-story, 114-unit residential building consisting of 114 studio, one-two-bedroom, and ‘family’ style apartments with 10.5% of units reserved for
income-qualified households on approximately 2.36-acres of the 5.4-acre SMART Site within the Railroad Square Preservation District. Proposed amenities include an outdoor fitness center, outdoor pool, open space, and child play area. A portion of the SMART multi-use pathway is included along the eastern property frontage, connecting pedestrians to the western side of the Downtown SMART station from W 6th Street. A new interim public street along
the site’s western boundary includes 75 parking spaces and would provide a future connection between W 6th and W 3rd street. A new public promenade would establish a future pedestrian connection between 4th Street and Downtown Santa Rosa Station and the Santa Rosa Creek Greenway. The Project is eligible for a Statutory Exemption under California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) Guidelines Section 15182. The application has been filed by Peter
