March 31st, Saturday- Earth Hour 2012. The largest environmental event in history- millions of people switch off their lights for one hour. West Ender Russ Scarola and the Share Exchange host this free downtown event. Activities include: 7PM laying out a giant Earth out of natural materials; 8:30PM lighting candles across the “continents” and share stories/poems/songs around a makeshift campfire. Come help create and/or bring something you’d like to share that exemplifies your connection to the Earth. Location: The Share Exchange 531 5th St Time: 7 p.m.
March 31st, Saturday- “Taste: A Wine Country Pygmalion” Bronwen Shears directs this staged reading of “Taste: A Wine Country Pygmalion,” a new play by Jody Gehrman (author of “The Ticking Clock Project”). Free admission. Location: 6th Street Playhouse, Studio Theatre Time: 2 p.m.
April 1st, Sunday “Showcase: Women in the Arts” This special performance event honors 10 female artists, singers, poets, actresses and dancers who have contributed to the rich, cultural life of Sonoma County. $10 per person. Location: 6th Street Playhouse, GK Hardt Theatre Time: 7 p.m.
