Meeting Update, BoDean Info, Meetings

Mar 17, 2018 in Neighbor News, Public Meetings

We had a wonderful West End Spring Meeting. It was a time to socialize with each other and we even met a few new neighbors.

We discussed BoDean asphalt and the lack of action for the City to respond about code compliance, the West End Emergency/Disaster Preparedness plan and info on the Quick Pick Market. Chris Rogers, City Council, informed us about some of the proposed District Elections maps. Neighbors were very disappointed to see the maps that actually cut our neighborhood in half! We even took a vote on which maps were liked.

Our special guest was SRK9 Officer Mike Paetzold and his partner Rico. We got a live demonstration of the benefits of the K9 program right in DeTurk Round Barn Park and later got to ask questions.

Send an email to SR City Council asking for action on the code violations for BoDean. It’s been over 2 years since the code complaints were turned in by West End residents who are impacted by BoDean.  Write City Council at  citycouncil@srcity.org  Santa Rosa City Council Meeting is on March 20th, Tuesday starts at 4 p.m – so email before the meeting on Tuesday.  SR City Council will hear an update regarding Bodean Asphalt Item 6.3 STATUS OF CODE ENFORCEMENT CONCERNING BODEAN ASPHALT PLANT This item is provided to update Council on the status of code enforcement concerning the BoDean asphalt plant. Featured West End Neighborhood Association Sponsor- Dr Gary Wong, DC

Dr. Gary Wong, Chiropractor Sports Physician, has well established West End business located in the West End. Gary is a true Santa Rosan- born at Santa Rosa General Hospital on A Street to Bobbie and Hazel Wong. His father Bobbie was a mail carrier in the West End for many years. Gary grew up on A Street across from St. Rose School and attended Lincoln Elementary school on Davis Street. He also attended SRJH, SRJC and Sonoma State before he moved away to study at Palmer College of Chiropractic. He came back to Santa Rosa and married another native Santa Rosan, Lynette (Williamson) and they have a daughter named after his father, Bobbie.

Gary has many memories of playing at Lincoln and St. Rose Schools. He also remembers what a great playground the construction site of the new portion of St. Rose Church was after the workers had left. Gary’s office is located in the West End at 205 8th Street and is actually across the Street from the Old Lincoln School. His office also was once the home of the Rugulo family,  a well-known West End Italian family.  It’s no wonder that Gary has been so supportive of the neighborhood, not only has he sponsored us for many years but he also attends our meetings and events. Thank-you Gary Wong!
