Santa Rosa, West End neighbors discuss plans to clear Sixth Street homeless camp City officials and homeless outreach workers met with neighbors at the De Turk Round Barn to explain the city’s new approach calling for the camp’s breakup. The project is currently underway and it is anticipated that the camp will be cleaned by October 16th. Although there was information about the proposed 6th Street Homeless Camp cleanup pilot program, many neighbors felt that their questions and concerns about the effects on our neighborhood were not addressed.

District Election are Coming: Give Input on the Districts. The City of Santa Rosa will transition from at-large to district-based elections starting in November 2018.  The City asks for your help in designing voting districts. It is essential for the success of this process that there is a shared understanding of neighborhood regions.  You are the person who knows your neighborhood best. . W 6th St at Madison St Sewer and Water ImprovementsThis project replaces aged sewer and water mains and will reduce system maintenance costs. All mains and laterals will be replaced and the pavement area will be reconstructed. Construction project has not started although slated to start in August.

Santa Rosa Complete Streets Road Diet on Transit Corridor– The new “Road Diet” scheme means W. Third will be restriped to include a single travel lane in each direction, a two-way center turn lane, Class-2 bicycle lanes and street parking. It will also be repaved from 1,100 feet west of Dutton Avenue to Roberts Avenue. Curb ramps will be constructed to meet current standards in both locations.  W. Third Street progress: Curb ramp installations and paving operations are primarily complete. Ongoing working includes raising utility lids and the road striping work.  Expect potential delays to traffic in the area during this time. Lane closures for the work are expected to remain within 8:00am and 4:30pm Monday through Friday.
