September 28th, Thursday at 6:00PM Homeless Encampment Cleanup Pilot Program at Highway 101 6TH Street Underpass & Community Informational Meeting–  In order to provide information about the pilot program and answer questions, the City will hold an informational community. Residents and businesses from the neighborhoods surrounding the encampment are encouraged to come. October 5th, Thursday at 6 p.m. West End Full Moon Tour Time Travelers Tours will travel back in time to bring back to life the early days of the West End Neighborhood and Railroad Square. Life was not always easy – it was filled with achievement and disappointment. Learn how our ancestors managed without wifi and built the town we live in today. We will explain the stories of murder, betrayal and wealth. This is a walking tour that requires individuals to walk one and half miles on City sidewalks over 90 minutes. The tour will end at one of the oldest homes in the area – Beer and wine will be available – all proceeds will be donated to Historical Society of Santa Rosa. The tour will begin at Depot Park at 6:00 pm and end on West 8th street. 90 minutes. info 707-477-8422

Commuters find joys, pains of using new SMART rail system- The Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit agency attracted nearly 53,000 riders in its first three weeks of service, surpassing projections for the period of 46,800 passengers. The biggest surprise has been the 15,000 weekend patrons, which is more than seven times greater than first anticipated. Press Democrat
