May 6th, First Saturday Cleanup on Prince Memorial Greenway (ages 5 to adult) On the first Saturday of every month help take care of restored Santa Rosa Creek flowing through the heart of downtown. The Greenway provides a home for river otter, kingfishers, egrets, and steelhead trout as well as parks, public art, and recreation along the six mile creek trail. Clean-up supplies provided. Location: Meet at Olive Park 10 a.m.

May 11th , Thursday Bike to Work Day- Join thousands of local folks bicycling to work – first timers as well as seasoned pros! Get encouragement – and free snacks, nifty bike bags, and other goodies – at multiple Energizer Stations set up along local routes. The 23rd Annual Bike to Work Day is part of National Bike Month. Sonoma County Bicycle Coalition is working to make this the best year ever with exciting musette bags stuffed with goodies available at all of their Energizer Stations during your morning commute, plus some fun after-parties taking place later that evening! May 11th, Thursday 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Midtown 4th Street Parklet Popup.   Check out a Popup Parklet on Bike to Work Day. (Parklets Build Community VIDEO) Midtown 4th is the new neighborhood name for the area just east of downtown as you are heading toward Sonoma. This mile or so of 4th street is a hub of activity with restaurants, businesses, homes, and it’s the eastern entry to downtown. How can Mid-Town 4th better serve bicyclists, pedestrians and drivers? May 14th, Sunday 3- 4:15 p.m.- West End Poodle Party. The West End Poodle Party is on the second Sunday of every month. It’s a great time for Poodles and their owners to socialize. May 20th,  Saturday at 10am- The 123rd Annual Luther Burbank Rose Parade & Festival  Following the Parade there will have music, family fun activities, and many different food vendors in Downtown Santa Rosa in Courthouse Square. Location: Downtown Santa Rosa

May 21st, Sunday at 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.- Finding History in Sonoma County- A Day of Discovery. The So. Co. Historical Records Commission and the So. Co. Library are pleased to present the first “Finding History Day.” Discover and celebrate the hidden treasures held in the many historical archives within the county. May 23rd, Tuesday 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.- The West End – It’s Italian Heritage & The Railroads. Take a fascinating tour on Rosie the Trolley and visit some of Santa Rosa’s most interesting historical sites. This tour is hosted by Santa Rosa’s most charismatic historian, Bill Montgomery. You will visit some of our local treasures including the DeTurk Round Barn, Church of One Tree, the Rosa Memorial Stone, and Carrillo Adobe. A comprehensive history of Santa Rosa from the early 1800’s to the great earthquake will be discussed. Participants will take a few short walks to get a better view of historical sites. A personal water bottle is recommended. Location: Board Rosie the Trolley at the Howarth Park Playland Store.

May 29th, Monday 12 p.m.- Memorial Day Ceremony at SR Rural Cemetery. Special recognition of the 150th anniversary of the CA branch of the G.A.R. (Grand Army of the Republic in CA. Speakers, music and tours flowing ceremony. Free. Location: SRRC 1600 Franklin Ave.
