August ends with Labor Day Weekend and then we head into September- but there’s still many great activities and events in or around the West End Neighborhood.

Every Friday at 6 p.m.- West End Summer Bocce ends Sept. 26th. Relax on Friday nights with friends and neighbors at DeMeo Park. Bring a dish to share or something to throw on the grill. We talk, eat, play a little bocce and then talk and eat some more! Good times. Family friendly. Well behaved dogs are welcomed. No glass at park please. Location: DeMeo Park 610 Polk St.

Every Sunday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.- West End Farmers Market. Local veggies and fruit, artisan foods and music- what’s not to like! WEFM is a great place to spend a Sunday.  Location: Donahue Street between W. 9th & W. 8th Street.

September 5th, Friday- (No movie on August 29th) 2014 West End Summer Movie Nights LAST Night features The Lego Movie  Friday nights at the DeTurk Round Barn. September 6th, Saturday-  at 10 a.m.- noon First SATURDAY Cleanup  Join neighbors and youth in the care of Prince Memorial Greenway the first Saturday of every month. Clean-up supplies provided. Organized by Stan Gow. For more info go to http://firstsaturdaycleanup.org

September 13th 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.- DeMeo Park Clean Up– The West End Neighborhood joins forces with the Park A Month Volunteer program. Hand tools will be provided on-site by City of SR staff, but you are also welcome to bring your own tools. Don’t forget a hat/sunscreen, gloves and water. Until Sept 14th– Funny Girl- Her career spanned from comedienne to Vaudeville star. In The Ziegfeld Follies, in Hollywood films and on the radio, Fanny Brice was one of the most celebrated entertainers of her time. This show is her story. The West End’s own Laura McGinnis is featured in the role, “Emma”. Location: 6th St. Playhouse, G.K. Hardt Theatre

September 12th – 28th The Glass Menagerie In director Craig A. Miller’s newly envisioned version of the Tennessee Williams classic, Tom Wingfield is a homeless man living under a fire escape in 1960s St. Louis. Haunted by his past, the audience experiences the hallucination-like memories of his sister and mother unfold before their eyes. The question arises: what is truth, and what has become a fabrication of memory played over and over in Tom’s troubled mind? Location: 6th Street Playhouse Studio Theatre

September 20th, Saturday- The Great Santa Rosa History Hunt. The Historical Society of SR is hosting a History Hunt. It’s a fun activity where you can hunt historic locations, solve clues and discover City landmarks. Register at Santa Rosa History Hunt. Hunt starts at So. Co. Museum. Clues released at 10 a.m. Hunt ends at 2 p.m. $10 Donation
