The West End is busy this month! Mark your calendars: our BBQ & Bike Parade (Saturday, July 19th) and our West End Summer Bocce season starts on Friday, July 25th- both at DeMeo Park. West End Summer Movie Nights starts on Friday, July 25th at DeTurk Round Barn Park. More info below:

July 19th, Saturday starting at 2 p.m.- West End Annual BBQ and Bike Parade An old fashioned good time with your friends and neighbors.  We will parade our decorated bikes around the neighborhood then enjoy a leisurely BBQ afternoon. Here’s the plan: 2 p.m. Meet at DeMeo Park to decorate bikes (Volunteers to help with bike decorations be at park at 1:45 p.m.), 2:30 We will leave promptly at 2:30 p.m. to parade around the ‘hood on our decorated bikes. Helmets required for those under 18 years old (Bike safety volunteers be ready to watch our group at crossings and to make sure no one is left behind). 3 p.m. BBQ begins. Bring a side dish to share (Please remember to bring a serving utensil and mark your serving bowl and utensil for easy retrieval.) 6 p.m.  After the party, clean up. Pitch in to make sure trash is picked up and park is spiffy before we all leave. Do you have a trash and/or recycle can you would like to lend to the BBQ? Please bring it over before 2 p.m. and mark your address on it so we know where to return it. Special Note: Children’s activities- anyone who can entertain or amuse the kids(face painters, games, water balloon toss, mask making etc.) would be most welcome! PHOTOS from 2013

July 25th, Friday at 6 p.m.- West End Summer Bocce. Relax on Friday nights with friends and neighbors at DeMeo Park. Bring a dish to share or something to throw on the grill. We talk, eat, play a little bocce and then talk and eat some more! Good times. Family friendly. Well behaved dogs are welcomed. No glass at park please. Location: DeMeo Park 610 Polk St.

 July 18th to August 23rd– Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m.  Shakespeare in the Cannery  Opening Night THIS Friday. The six-week engagement of the enduring classic Romeo and Juliet offers the people of Sonoma County, and beyond, the chance to wine and dine under the summer night sky while enjoying an inventive take on Shakespeare. The site of the former California Packing Company’s Plant No. 5 in Santa Rosa’s Railroad Square will be transformed into an outdoor theater, complete with solar-powered stage lighting and an innovative set.The cast features local, professional actors and musicians. West Ender Alan Kaplan will be Friar Laurence TICKETS General Admission $25, $5 discount if you ride bike to event. Pedestrian and ADA Parking Entry through Sixth Street Playhouse Parking Lot at 52 W. 6th Street. NO parking in the 6th St. Lot   Location: 3 W. 3rd St.

July 20th, Sunday 5 to 7 p.m.- Miss Kitty and the Big Dogs at Live at Juilliard Park. Enjoy Miss Kitty and the Big Dogs’ swing and rockabilly sound. Fun show- Miss Kitty (Shannon Rider) got a great voice and she’s all about feathers, fringe and fishnet. West Ender Tim Sarter on bass. Location: Juillard Park
