February 16th, 17th & 18th- Auditions for Thoroughly Modern Millie – 6th St. Playhouse will be seeing adult actors for the roles in the May production of Thoroughly Modern Millie. For more information visit their website: 6th St Playhouse

February 21st, Friday at 8 p.m. & February 22nd, Saturday at 2 p.m.-  6th Street Playhouse will stage “Close Together – Far Apart;” a production of three classic short plays. The three plays are Trifles by Susan Glaspell, The Tiny Closet by William Inge, and The Golden Door by Robert Mauro.  The production will be staged at the 6th Street Playhouse Studio Theater and is the outcome of a new Theater Production class taught by Lennie Dean, the lead instructor for the 6th Street Playhouse.  The eight students in the class not only act in the show, but were responsible for all of the production aspects, including costuming, props, set pieces, publicity, and stage managing.  All of the participants have been studying with Ms. Dean for over two years.There is no cost of admission, although a donation, which will be used to support 6th Street’s educational program, is requested.  More details and directions to the Playhouse can be found at the 6th Street website, www.6thstreetplayhouse.com

6Th Street Playhouse is pleased to announce a new series of staged readings: “The Fall of Arthur Miller” and “Marvelous Matriarchs.” The series will be held the last Sunday of the month @ 6:00 pm in The Studio Theatre. The plays are: Medea, February 23rd; Hedda Gabbler, March 30th; Mother Courage and Her Children, April 27th; A new, contemporary play exploring themes of women, feminism and family May 25th. Audiences will have the opportunity to see these classic works in a fluid “workshop” setting and engage in stimulating Q & A post-show with actors and directors.  A dramaturge will introduce each play and guide the Q&A. All the plays in the series are free, but donations will be happily accepted.

February 28th 6 to 8 p.m.- The next Discussions Inspiring Neighborhood Engagement (DINE) event is scheduled for February 28! Meet new neighbors and enjoy a potluck dinner while exploring the topic of “Civic Participation” in our community. What does it mean to be civic-ally engaged? What would it look like in practice? Join us and share your insights while hearing the experiences of others. DINE gives you the opportunity to have meaningful conversations with neighbors you may have never had the chance to meet. It’s a great way to become involved and enjoy good food! You can register online to either participate, host, or facilitate HERE.
