May will be a very exciting month for the West End. Our Bocce season opens on May 17th and the new West End Farmer’s Market ( http://srwestendfarmersmarket.com) opens on May 26th. This Saturday, we will get together to spruce up DeMeo Park. Hope to see you there.

Bocce Dates:

May 4th, Saturday 10 a.m. to Noon- DeMeo Park Pre-Bocce season clean up. Spend a little time making the park ready for our up and coming bocce season. Bring your own tools (rake, weed tools, wheel barrow) and don’t forget to wear a hat. If we join together we will get it done in no time!  Facebook

May 17th, Friday to September 20th, Friday- West End Bocce Season  Join your friends and neighbors at DeMeo Park for an evening of socializing, snacking and bocce. May 3rd, Friday- The Last Pride & Joy show at the Last Day Saloon. Cost $20  This is a 21+ event Time: doors 8:30 p.m. Show 9 p.m. Location: Last Day Saloon

May 3rd, Friday – First Friday Night Sky Program.  First Friday Night Sky programs are offered on the first Friday of the month until May 2013. Show content will vary with emphasis on the stars, constellations, planets, and other interesting facts in or about the sky that night. Although admission is free, donations to support SRJC’s Planetarium are gratefully appreciated. Seating will be on a first-come, first-served basis; so arrive early enough to pick up your free parking permit, return it to your vehicle, and arrive back in the planetarium by the scheduled show start time. May 4th, Saturday-  at 10 a.m. First SATURDAY Cleanup . Join neighbors and youth in the care of Prince Memorial Greenway the first Saturday of every month. Clean-up supplies provided. Organized by Stan Gow & Chop’s Teen Club. For more info go to http://firstsaturdaycleanup.org

May 12th, Sunday at 10 a.m. West End Small Dog Hour– A slower, downsized environment for the smaller dog to play in. A great time for small dogs to meet with other small dogs to romp without concern. The West End Small Dog Hour is held the second Sunday of every month right before the W. E. Poodle Party. Heavy rain will cancel event. May 4th, Saturday at 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.- Roses and Flora Tours. Discover an extraordinary collection of old and rare roses and Santa Rosa’s largest Native Plant and Habitat Garden. Two docent led tours available 1) Memorial Rose Garden 2) Flora and Fauna tour through the entire cemetery. Tours leave every twenty minutes from 10:00am to 11:00am.  Meet at the Franklin Gate. May 5th, Saturday- 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. SRJC’s Larry Bertolini Day Under The Oaks is back bigger and better than ever. The SRJC campus will be absolutely covered with things to do and see. Over 202  booths and activities, food, demonstrations, crafts.

 May 5th, Saturday- 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.ChickenQue is the largest single day chicken BBQ west of the Mississippi! So. Co. 4-H have been putting this on for the last 52 years without fail. This is a great family event and an opportunity to learn about 4-H. Tickets are $8 before event or $9 at the door. Tickets available at Western Farm Center.
