Halloween was a washout! In spite of the rain, neighbors socialized and a few hearty kids went out in search of treats. Don’t look now but November is already here!

November 6th, Tuesday at 5 p.m.- BoDean Asphalt Company Appeal of Design Review. Hard to believe… but the City of S. R. scheduled this on election day.  Location: City Hall, 100 Santa Rosa Ave.

November 15th, Thursday at 7 p.m.- West End Neighborhood Association Fall Meeting. Meet your friends and neighbors, get the latest neighborhood news and updates. Location: DeTurk Round Barn 819 Donahue Street

November 17th, Saturday at 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.- DeMeo Park Clean Up. The West End is teaming up with Boy Scout troop is #509 to clean up DeMeo park. We plant to pick up trash, rake up leaves, clean the curbs. Bring your favorite yard tools and gloves. Events and Happenings:

November 1st, Thursday & 2nd, Friday-10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Downtown Day of the Dead Celebration/ El Día de los Muertos. A celebration and sacred space for community members to remember, honor and celebrate loved ones who have crossed over. In it’s twelfth year, this event focuses on raising the awareness in current and future generations that they might draw strength in remembrance and acknowledgment of their ancestors. November 2nd, Friday at 7:00 and 8:30pm – First Friday Night Sky Program.  First Friday Night Sky programs are offered on the first Friday of the month until May 2013. Show content will vary with emphasis on the stars, constellations, planets, and other interesting facts in or about the sky that night. Although admission is free, donations to support SRJC’s Planetarium are gratefully appreciated. Seating will be on a first-come, first-served basis; so arrive early enough to pick up your free parking permit, return it to your vehicle, and arrive back in the planetarium by the scheduled show start time. November 3rd, Saturday-  at 10 a.m. First SATURDAY Cleanup . Join neighbors and youth in the care of Prince Memorial Greenway the first Saturday of every month. Clean-up supplies provided. Organized by Stan Gow & Chop’s Teen Club. For more info go to http://firstsaturdaycleanup.org

November 3rd, Saturday at 11 a.m.- 12 p.m.- Read to an Autumn Dog. Your child can read to a certified therapy dog from the Sonoma County Humane Society. The dogs are good listeners! Location: Central Santa Rosa Library 211 E. Street

November 3rd, Saturday at 10am– 2pm  NEW Senior Wing at Finley Open House. You are invited to visit the spectacular new Senior Wing at the Finley Complex. Help celebrate the completion of the first floor of this fantastic new center. You will have the opportunity to mingle with class instructors, ask questions and pick-up a program schedule. Spend some time in our cozy leisure room and enjoy the beautiful space, entertainment and refreshments. Plus, recreation programs are scheduled to begin in the new building on Monday, November 5th!
