October 24th, Wednesday- 3rd Annual Light and Dark: El Día de Los Muertos Writing Workshop. Instructors- Dani Burlison & West Ender Leilani Clark. Celebrate summer’s end and the move from light to dark with a day of writing and food! In this half-day creative writing workshop we will explore transition, change, and different aspects of death and dying. October 30th falls just before Halloween, Dia de los Muertos, and All Souls Day, and we will be finding non-religious inspiration from these different holidays in a way that promises to be celebratory, fun, and enlightening. The ancient Celts believed that Samhain (the original Halloween) was a time when the border between the spirit world and this world became thin, an intriguing possibility that bodes well for some truly inspired writing. Let’s pull those skeletons from the closet and let them dance, calavera-style! Snacks will be provided (and probably some Halloween candy!) $35-50 with limited scholarships available. DEPOSIT REQUIRED to hold your space Limited to 9 participants. Feel free to bring small items for our altar Location: Share Exchange, 531 5th Street, Santa Rosa Time: 6:30-9pm RSVP at petalsandbones@gmail.com
