 The West End Halloween KIDS Parade will also feature an opportunity to perform the Thriller Dance in mass. No need to be SCARED! There will be at least one practice scheduled. So mark this on your calendar to get your zombie on!

October 31st, Wednesday. West End Halloween KIDS Parade. This year… we will do the Thriller Dance (see below) before the parade. Meet up early for photos, get a noise maker. Watch the facebook page for latest breaking news and updates. Location: Meet up at Boyce and Coulter Street Time: 5:45 P.m.

October 25th, Thursday-  THRILLER! Learn a modified/shortened version of the Thriller dance to perform at the West End Halloween parade. No experience necessary! Please email Katherine at lestudiodanse@gmail.com if you plan to attend. Location: Dance Center 56 W. 6th Street in Studio D Time: 7:30-8:30 pm.

October 12th, Friday (Every 2nd Friday) – Musicians Showcase Open Mic  presented by Heritage Public House. Last 2 shows were standing room only!! so show up early- show starts at 7:30pm and it is a great variety of 10 awesome musical artists- this is the last ‘ no- cover’ show! Hosted by Gary Violin. October 13th, Saturday Sugar Skull Decorating Workshop for Families Sugar Skulls play an important part of Day of the Dead activities. They are a sweet and charming gift of appreciation for the living and for those who have passed on. In modern times, sugar skulls adorn more than just altars; the charm and significance of sugar skulls has greatly influenced both tattoo art and current fashion. Come learn all about the sugar skull making process and create your very own sugar skull art! This workshop, led by San Francisco artist Michele Simons, is a great opportunity for families, teachers and anyone else interested in a fun, artistic way to get into the spirit of Day of the Dead. All materials (traditional and not-so-traditional) are provided. All children under 17 should be accompanied by a participating adult. Adults without children are welcome to attend, as well. Space is limited, advance registration is required.  Cost $15- 25 Location: Sonoma County Museum, 425 7th Street Time: 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

October 14th, West End Small Dog Hour– A slower, downsized environment for the smaller dog to play in. A great time for small dogs to meet with other small dogs to romp without concern. The West End Small Dog Hour is held the second Sunday of every month right before the W. E. Poodle Party. Rain will cancel the event. Organized by West Ender Lea Barron-Thomas Location: DeTurk Round Barn Dog Park  Time: 10 a.m.

October 14th, West End Poodle Party. Calling all social Poodles!… it’s time to party. The West End Poodle Party is held the second Sunday of every month. October 14th, Sunday- The 5th Annual Alley Cat Bike Race & Food Drive. Register for the bike race at 11:30 a.m. sharp. Racers will receive a route and an itemized list of groceries to buy at stores. All food is donated to Redwood food bank. Race winners get trophies. Raffle. Music by Mr. December. The Alley Cat Bike Race is the creation of West Ender Kelly Cowan.
