The Summer season is winding down with a big weekend of great events. This Friday is the last West End Summer Movie, last Railroad Square Summerfest… but then again it is also opening night for The Great American Trailer Park Musical. Saturday’s Staches and Spokes in not to be missed…. especially if you have a moustache to enter into the contest! Best advice for the weekend? Pace yourself… and remember to wear layers for possible chilly weather!

West End Summer Bocce- only 3 more Fridays to go! It’s starting to get dark early… so don’t dally. Bring food to share and dress for CHILL. Location: DeMeo Park Time: 6 p.m.

September 7th West End Summer Movie NightsLast one! Watch a movie under the stars. – Mary Poppins  Movies start at Dark. Bring something to sit on, warm clothes and friends. Free popcorn! Location: DeTurk Round Barn 819 Donahue Street Time: Dark approximately 8:30- 9 p.m.

September 7th, Friday- Railroad Square’s SummerFest on First Fridays. Last one! Music: Ricky Allen Ray, Don Giavonnis. A free street party in Railroad Square,  tastings from boutique wineries and artisan beer producers, live music, arts, crafts, shopping and dining. http://railroadsquare.net Location: Railroad Square- 4th Street between Davis & Wilson  Time: 6 to 9 p.m.

Summerfest – September 7th, Friday

September 7th to 30th– The Great American Trailer Park Musical. There’s a new tenant at Armadillo Acres-and she’s wreaking havoc all over Florida’s most exclusive trailer park. When Pippi, the stripper on the run, comes between the Dr. Phil-loving, agoraphobic Jeannie and her tollbooth collector husband-the storms begin to brew. Great cast including West Ender Craig A. September 7th, Friday- First Friday Night Sky Program.  First Friday Night Sky programs are offered on the first Fridayof the month. Show content will varies with emphasis on the sky that night. Although admission is free, donations to support SRJC’s Planetarium are gratefully appreciated. Seating is first-come, first-served basis; arrive early enough to pick up your free parking permit, return it to your vehicle, and arrive back in the planetarium by the scheduled show start time. September 8th, Saturday- ‘Staches & Spokes 2012. Klaus Rappensperger, Jessica Strange and Sara Gray, in conjunction with Whiskeydrunk Cycles, present the 2nd annual mustache bash and bicycle themed art show – ‘Staches and Spokes! All proceeds will benefit Artstart of Santa Rosa. Art by: Arn Anderson, Todd Barricklow, Joey Castor, David Farish, Mica Jennings, Klaus Rappensperger, Jann Samuels, Jacquie Smith, Wil Smith, Joshua Thwaites and more! September 9th, West End Small Dog Hour– A slower, downsized environment for the smaller dog to romp without concern. The West End Small Dog Hour is held the second Sunday of every month right before the W. E. Poodle Party. Rain will cancel the event. Organized by West Ender Lea Barron-Thomas Location: DeTurk Round Barn Dog Park  Time: 10 a.m.

September 9th, West End Poodle Party. Calling all social Poodles!… it’s time to party. The West End Poodle Party is held the second Sunday of every month. All Poodles, Poodle fusions and Poodle friendly dogs are invited to attend. Rain will cancel the event. Organized by West Ender Lea Barron-Thomas. September 10th, Monday 6th Street Undercrossing Ribbon Cutting Ceremony.  Join in the Ceremony to mark the opening of the new 6th Street Undercrossing! This project creates a vital crosstown link for pedestrians, bicyclists, and vehicles. On one side, it opens up into the West End Neighborhood, Railroad Square, the CHOPS Teen Center, the future SMART station, and miles of creek trails. On the other side it provides an easy connection to the Saint Rose Neighborhood and Church, the Sonoma County Museum, the Transit Mall and Downtown. Location: Corner of 6th Street and Davis Street Time: 12:00p – 1:00p

6th Street Undercrossing GRand Opening Ceremony

New Store in Railroad Square! Sunnyside Cottage is going to have a 2nd shop in Railroad Square. (The original Sunnyside Cottage is in the Oliver’s Market shopping center on Montecito.) This will be a “pop-up store” a small version of their current location in a shared space. They will be moving into the back area of Cast Away Yarn shop. Opening on September 15th Location: Cast Away Yarn Shop 111 4th Street Hours: Mon-Fri 11-6, Sat 10-5, Sun 11-4. Thursdays until 8:00PM.
