Don’t look now… but August is already here! THIS Friday- we will have an extra special bocce with musical guests. Sheep downtown? Afraid so. This Sunday 150-200 sheep will be herded in Downtown Santa Rosa by Cowboys and Sheepdogs. Also- on Sunday Mostly Python IV- it promises to be better than ever.

August 3rd, Friday- Wichita’s Slaughter Daughters. Join us for a special West End Bocce with musical guests- Wichita’s Slaughter Daughters a raw, soulful force to be reckoned with. Formed upon the fateful meeting of Cece Honey and Ari Rose, who together, front the band. Rounded out the inspiring mandolin work of Ari Rose, and Cece Honey holding it all together on rhythm guitar. The Slaughter Daughters hammer out modern day folk anthems about the dark side of life, with a heartfelt sincerity few others can match. (Thanks to Lisa Hutchinson for this treat!) August 3rd, Friday- Railroad Square’s SummerFest on First Fridays. Music: Kingsborough and Dustin Saylor Band. A free street party in Railroad Square,  tastings from boutique wineries and artisan beer producers, live music, arts, crafts, shopping and dining. http://railroadsquare.net Location: Railroad Square- 4th Street between Davis & Wilson  Time: 6 to 9 p.m.

RRSQ Summerfest 2012

August 4th, Saturday-  First SATURDAY Cleanup (ages 6 and up welcome). Join neighbors and youth in the care of Prince Memorial Greenway the first Saturday of every month. Clean-up supplies provided. Organized by West Ender Stan Gow. For more info go to http://firstsaturdaycleanup.org Time: 10 a.m.

August 4th, Saturday – S. R. Rural Cemetery History Tour. Learn about the lives of Santa Rosa’s early citizens. Tours leave from the Franklin Gate. Free, but donations welcomed. Location: S. R. Rural Cemetery located at Franklin & Monroe Streets Time: 10:00, 10:20, 10:40 & 11:00 a.m.

August 5th, Sunday- Mostly Python IV– Silly People take to the streets to be Silly!  presented by the Toad in the Hole and the 6th Street Playhouse. Come dressed in character. Food, beverage, music and prizes.  Family friendly. FREE Location: 116 5th Street Time: 12 p.m. til 6 p.m.

August 5th, Sunday- Sonoma County Fair farmers Day Sheep Drive: For the opening celebration of Sonoma county Fair’s Farmers Day, professional cowboys on horses and sheep dogs will herd 150-200 sheep from Courthouse Square to the Sonoma County Fairgrounds.  Musicians will follow. Sonoma County Fair. Location: Downtown 4th Street and Mendocino Time: 10 a.m.

September 15th, Saturday- Back to the Future. Go back in time to celebrate the Lena’s era, and come back to the future to support our teen community!
