6th and Davis, National Night Out

Aug 5, 2012 in Development & projects, Events, Miscellany, Public Meetings

Wow! Davis and 6th Street looks like a different place altogether! The new undercrossing is almost complete and will soon be officially opened. The intersection of 6th and Davis has been rehabbed with traffic lights, bumped out corners for easier pedestrian crossing and more. If that is not enough… there is a new proposed building for the NE corner of 6th and Davis. This area, that stands next to the West End neighborhood and Railroad Square,  has been blighted and forlorn for years. It will soon take on an identity of its own- as an area that welcomes people and guides them to the all the wonderful things that our area offers: The West End (Of course!) Historic Railroad Square,  great restaurants, a theater, teen club, shopping, the Smart Station, access to creek trails and more. (Ooops. Bragging again.)

August 16th, Thursday- Design Review for 6th and Davis Project– A new mixed use building is being proposed for the NE corner of 6th and Davis Street. It is an important corner because it is the first thing that will welcome people on the West side of the 6th Street linkage corridor. It is also a challenging corner and this is the initial time developers will present their design to Design Review.
