Ready, Set, Holiday season.

Yep…. we’re officially in the Holiday season. A few ideas to help simplify the holidays-  Stay close to home, buy from local merchants and/or local products/ services & spend quality time with friends and loved ones. Go to a play, take your dog to visit Santa, explore a variety of unique handmade crafts, stroll around Railroad Square with hot chocolate, take a carriage ride. Sounds like fun… doesn’t it?  It’s so easy to do when you live in the West End.

December 2nd, Friday- Street Cleaning the first Friday of the Month. First thing in the morning- move your cars off the curb to get your gutter swept. This is especially important at this time of year.

December 3rd & 4th Saturday & Sunday.  Santa Paws at Western Farm Center. It’s that time of year, to have your pets picture taken with Santa Paws. Donation includes 4×6 picture and a digital copy emailed to you. All proceeds benefit Canine Companions for Independence. Location: Western Farm Center 21 W. 7th St. Time: 10am to 4pm

December 3rd, Saturday- Historic Railroad Square Holiday Open House and Festivities. Tree Lighting Celebration, carolers, carriage rides, refreshments and shopping with local merchants. Location: Historic Railroad Square Time: Tree lighting at 6 p.m., Open house all day.

December 3rd, Saturday- First Saturday Clean Up West Ender Stan Gow organizes this monthly cleanup so we can take care of the Santa Rosa Creek.  Enjoy pizza afterward. Please bring utensils to keep trash impact low. Contribution to lunch, desserts, fruit and appetizers are always welcome. Location: Olive Park, Santa Rosa Time: 10 a.m. First Saturday Cleanup

December 11th, Sunday- West End Poodle Party. All Poodles, Poodle fusions and Poodle friendly dogs are invited to attend at our beautiful dog park. Location: DeTurk Round Barn Dog Park, 819 Donahue St. Time: 11 a.m.

December 3rd Saturday & 4th Sunday, Luther Burbank 32nd Annual Holiday Open House A 32-year community tradition and begin the season’s celebrations by visiting the historic Home and Gardens of Luther Burbank. Live music will be playing in the music room, complimentary cookies and spiced tea will be served in the Greenhouse, and a children’s craft activity will set up for kids. Location: Santa Rosa & Sonoma Avenues, Downtown Santa Rosa Time: 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

December 3rd, Saturday & December 4th, Sunday- Dickens Holiday Crafts Fair. 70 booths with crafts by local artists, music, food & Santa! $2 admission Location: Finley Community Center 2060 W. College Ave. Time: Dec 3rd 9- 5 p.m., Dec 4th 10-4 p.m.

December 6th, Tuesday- Rivers and Tides and You! An evening of nature art: hands on activities and a showing of Andrew Goldsworthy’s River and Tides. Concludes with an optional stroll around downtown to set our creations free. This is the final community element of West Ender Russ Scarola’s SSU graduate project. All ages welcome. $5 for adults, $3 for students, kids, and Share Exchange co-op members Location: S. R. Share Exchange 531 5th St. Time: 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Sunday, December 11th · Shop Party  Holiday Craft Bazaar with 30 local crafters and artisans (including many from the West End). Delicious locally sourced food. Music, fun, merriment.
