October 7th, Friday- First Friday Night Sky Program. First Friday Night Sky programs are offered September 2011 to  May 2012.  Learn interesting facts in or about the sky that night. Free but donations to support SRJC’s Planetarium are gratefully appreciated. Seating on a first-come, first-served basis; so arrive early enough to pick up your free parking permit, return it to your vehicle, and arrive back at planetarium by show start. Location:SRJC Planetarium in Lark Hall, Room 2001, Santa Rosa Campus Time:7:00 and 8:30pm

October 12th, Wednesday- The West End Full Moon Tour. Discover the Secrets of the West End under October’s first full moon. Hear stories of the past and travel to a different time- this year features the 1950s. Miss Kitty and the Big Dogs will entertain when the tour ends at the Arlene Francis Center (Historic Sperry Flour Mill Building).  Tour hosted by Allen Thomas.  Tour Tickets are $15, $25 with T-shirt, Music only $10. October 15th, Saturday: The Tweed Ride- in honor of bike commuter Luther Burbank. Don your wooly knickers for a leisurely 16-mile along the Joe Rodota Trail to Burbank’s Gold Ridge Farm in Sebastopol (and back). The So. Co. museum’s Eric Stanley’s stories and facts will help you imagine how the route looked when Burbank rode it.  Bring: Helmet, water, snacks, clothing layers in case of a inclement wheather. Helmets required for under 18 yrs. and recommended for riders of all ages and require all riders to sign a liability waiver. October 18th Tuesday- December 13th Thursday.  The Sonoma County Jewish Film Festival 2011 at the Rialto Cinemas. The 16th annual Sonoma County Jewish Film Festival will show choice films from Israel, Argentina, Mexico, Japan, France, Canada, Czech Republic, Poland and the United States. October 29th, Saturday- Cultural History Hike at Tolay Lake Regional Park with Pomo Elder Nick Tipon. Nick Tipon, Pomo Tribal elder, is from the Federated Indians of the Graton Rancheria and he grew up in the West End. Join Nick and a So. Co. Parks Ranger on a guided hike to the east ridge of Tolay Lake Regional Park. Learn about this incredible property and its history. A 30-minute presentation in the Stone Floor barn will cover cultural resources of the Tribe, their connections to the land and more.
