This weekend kicked off the busy Summer season, although it didn’t always feel very warm or dry.
West End Summer Bocce’s Opening night was a reunion of neighbors and an introduction to new friends. Todd Barricklow’s Taco Bike- his newest moving artwork (with an extremely useful twist) was a huge hit. For photos from the 2010 Bocce season- click here!
The 116th Luther Burbank Rose Parade was well attended. It been a great year for roses- thanks to all neighbors who shared their blooms. Congratulations are in order- Klank-Boom-Clank won an award for the Self Propelled Group and also the Sweepstakes Award for Best Unit in Parade.
DeTurk Round Barn Park‘s construction project did not hamper the Sunday Pug Play date. A plentiful pack of pugs showed up- with a few poodles and bichons mixed in. For photos from the DeTurk Dog Park- click here!
AMGEN Tour of CA 2010– It still rained this year, even though it was May but fans showed up to cheer on the cyclists. Many West Enders were on hand to witness the cyclists scream down Wilson Street- through the heart of the West End and Railroad Square. Click here! ( Thanks to City Councilmember Gary Wysocky for his leadership in keeping the race on Wilson Street.) In spite of the rain, the Baby Seal Club gave a terrific performance and a few of their die hard fans braved the rain to see them in action. To see them in action Click Here!
