DeTurk Round Barn lifted, Lucy at Depot

May 28, 2010 in Development & projects, Neighbor News, Preservation & Historic sites

The DeTurk Round Barn was lifted this morning.

DeTurk Round Barn It is an amazing feat when you consider how long that barn has rested in the same place. The process was smooth and gentle on the barn. Great job by Montgomery Heavy Hauling and Structure Relocation and GCCI– The General Contractor over the entire project.  GCCI is a local Santa Rosa based,  family-run company. This morning, there were generations of the Gentry family on hand to see this memorable event. Thanks for taking such good care of our treasured barn!

Lucy at the Depot– Lucy Van Pelt is now around town joining Charlie Brown, Snoopy “Joe Cool” and Woodstock!! This past weekend, 30 Lucy statues were painted by local Sonoma County artists. The event was open to the public to watch the artists work to create their vision of Lucy. The statues are now being placed around Santa Rosa and will be on display throughout the summer. Two of them are at the Visitor’s Center- Depot in Railroad Square. A map of statue locations will be inserted into the Press Democrat or can be picked up at the Visitor’s Center.
