Halloween and the start of the World Series are the exciting events to focus on during the last week of October. Clearly the weather is changing- Railroad Scare was rained out… let’s hope the weather will hold for this weekend.

Current forecast for Sunday: A slight chance of showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 66.  Sunday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 50.

October 30th, Saturday- Halloween Carnival at CHOPS. A family friendly, evening of safe and ghoulish fun. Trick or treating, a jumpy house, game booths, face painting, costume contest and more! Carnival booths and activities geared for elementary age levels and younger. Location: CHOPs 509 Adams St.  Time: 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.  $4 per person at the door. 25 cents per carnival ticket.  For more info CHOPS

The West End Full Moon Tour provided another enchanting look into our neighborhood’s past. The weather cooperated so that walking throughout the neighborhood was comfortable. This time of the year gives us the opportunity to enjoy Halloween, Fall & harvest. Yearly favorites are Railroad Scare and the West End Full Moon tour- two of the best ways to celebrate this season. The Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan is still winding its way through the boards and commissions- don’t complain later if you don’t take the time to comment now. Last Day Saloon will have a benefit concert for Sadie’s Haven- a non-profit that provides care and shelter for neglected, abused and abandoned horses.

October 21st, Thursday- Bicycle & Pedestrian Advisory Board- Board will review the draft of the 2010 Bicycle & Pedestrian Master Plan Update. This is one of the final opportunities to make your comments of this draft. Location: 90 Santa Rosa Ave. City Hall Annex Building,  Conference Room 7A & B. Time: 4- 6 p.m.

The West End Summer bocce season officially ended last night. Lots of folks came out to spend one more pleasant evening in DeMeo Park. We have many people to thank: Our  sponsors and those of you who purchased West End “Boogie Night” tshirts- your contribution helped pay for over $1000 of  Bocce costs this year ( New bocce surface, new bocce ball set and lavatory for the summer).  Kernan Coleman for his excellent Tshirt design. Marc Richardson, City of Santa Rosa Rec and Parks, for working with us to help make our Bocce night a success.

Lost long board alert: Tait left his longboard at DeMeo Park last night ( Last Bocce night- Sept. 18th) and it is naturally gone   this morning. It is a nice one – wood with grip tape on top. On thebottom on the board there is a blue spitfire sticker with a surf/beach scene in yellow and orange. Also says Gravity on it. Mind putting the word out? Tait would love to get it back. Stretch your legs on a 4-mile walk along Santa Rosa Creek with former City Council member Steve Rabinowitsh and the Sonoma County Stompers. West End Summer Bocce at DeMeo Park 6 p.m. Join your neighbors and friends at DeMeo park for conversation, potluck and bocce. Last Bocce night is Sept. 18th- only 4 weeks left. Movie Night at DeTurk Round Barn Park

We’re having another movie night! **** NOTE THE CHANGE IN TIME TO 8:30 ****

Join your neighbors this Friday night just after dark at ** 8:30 ** pm to watch a movie outside, projected against the DeTurk Roundbarn.
Bring a blanket & such to sit on (and to wrap yourself in as it gets cooler).
