NOTE! Put it on your calendar. The West End Neighborhood Association Fall Meeting will be November 17th, Thursday at 7 p.m. at the DeTurk Round Barn. It’s a good time to see neighbors before rain, cold and holidays keep us busy and indoors. News:

9th Street Community Mural: The finishing detail of the 9th Street Community Mural is scheduled to be completed on Thursday, November 10th. The 9th Street Mural Community has been completed except for the neighborhood names that will face each neighborhood.   We had over 30 volunteers help paint last Saturday!

The Mural Committee members: Denise Hill from St. Rose Neighborhood & Sher Ennis and Lea Barron-Thomas from West End Neighborhood started the project in the Summer of 2009. Their goal was to take a dark, uninviting space and make it friendlier and easy to maintain. It was a simple project but took a long time to get through the City of Santa Rosa Art in Public Places and CalTrans approval processes. We couldn’t have done it without  Tara Matheny-Schuster, Art Coordinator for City of Santa Rosa.

The Mural was funded by a City of Santa Rosa CAB grant. Mario Uribe created the design. ArtStart  was on hand to train the volunteers to use the stencils. We would also like to thank:  Our wonderful community volunteers. Friedman’s for graciously donating all the paint. The Coffee Girls for providing delicious coffee to our hardworking volunteers.   We couldn’t have done it with out you! THANK-YOU! For more photos go to 9th Street Community Mural.

The St Rose and West End Historic Districts have joined together to paint a mural at the 9th street underpass – the intersection of our neighborhoods. The goal is to create an attractive, comfortable, graffiti-free experience for the pedestrian, bike rider, driver or neighbor who may travel through this under crossing. The design by Mario Uribe is also easy to maintain by neighborhood volunteers. Friedman Home Center donated the paint and EVERYONE is invited to participate.

A student, who lives on Klute St. in the St. Rose neighborhood, had her car broken into on Tuesday evening, June 22nd. She’s hoping that at least her school book will be found which would be of no use to anyone else . Be on the look out.

I live on Klute street on the east side and just wanted to let you know that my car was broken into last night and my school bag stolen. It’s a Dakine backpack and unfortunately it had my wallet in it and my school book Managerial Finance. I’m hoping that maybe who ever stole the bag dumps it somewhere in the neighborhood…I really need the school book.

Thank you!!!!! Kattie kattiezimmer@GMAIL.COM
