Every Wednesday – May 26th- Sept 1st 5-8pm Santa Rosa Downtown Market A showcase of the bounty of Sonoma County fine foods, fresh produce, a variety of entertainment, and handmade arts and crafts. Located in Downtown Santa Rosa on Fourth Street from Mendocino Ave to E Street. Learn about Santa Rosa on the Rosie Explorer Tours. Tours at 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., from the corner of E and 3rd Streets, by the downtown library and Farmers Market. Tours are approximately 45 minutes. On most tours the visitors leave the bus and walk short distances. For more information, call Bill Montgomery at (707) 573-0103. This Saturday, June 12th 6- 9 p.m. Peggy Sue’s All American Cruise The “Parade of Cars” / “Cruise” will take place downtown Santa Rosa. The Parade will run from ‘B’ Street down 4th Street to Hope St and returning back down to ‘B’ Street by the way of 5th Street. Items of Neighborhood Interest

Two new items of Neighborhood interest:

Break in at Western Farm Saturday Night.  Utz-  SRPD the Police Dog takes care of business.

On Saturday, April 17, 2010, at approximately 10:40 p.m., Santa Rosa Police Officers responded to Western Farms Center on West 7th Street for a silent alarm. Officers arrived and established a perimeter at which time officers saw movement inside the upstairs office area.  Shortly thereafter, officers entered the business with the assistance of a police K9, Utz. Once at the stairwell, the officer provided notification to anyone upstairs that a police K9 was going to be deployed. The suspect, Michael Iervolino, an 18 year old Santa Rosa resident, immediately complied and was taken into custody without incident. Iervolino was subsequently booked into the Sonoma County Jail for Burglary.

NW Santa Rosa to be home for all  Medical Cannabis Dispensaries

On April 19th, the City Manager approved a  2nd Medical Cannabis Dispensary Permit in NW Santa Rosa. The City of Santa Rosa that, by ordinance only allows 2 medical marijuana facilities within the City, has just approved the second facilty.  It will be located at 1061 North Dutton Ave. – right next to homes.  It is also located within 2 miles of the only other location which is also located in NW Santa Rosa.  This facility was approved in spite of many letters from residents who cited existing problems in the area due to an over concentration of services. There was also a  recent a robbery and assault at the County Approved Medical Marijuana Facility on Santa Rosa Avenue.

An update from Officer Anderson who was at our Spring West End Neighborhood meeting:

West End Neighbors,

Yesterday a burglar was caught in a house, on the east side of Santa Rosa. Following the arrest, officers discovered he lived in the 800 block of Davis St. A search warrant was served there, and more stolen property was located. I do not know if he is the person committing the auto burglaries in your neighborhood, but it may be worth a call to the detective. I have attached the media release for your information.

The West End Neighborhood Association Spring meeting had over 70 attendees. Good meeting! There was a wealth of announcements and updates. The West End would like to thank our speakers, Supervisor Shirlee Zane and SRPD Chief Tom Schwedhelm for taking the time to meet our West End neighbors. Crime Alert- Cars broken into Jefferson St.

West End Neighbors take notice!

On Wednesday Morning ( 2 to 5 a.m.) 3 cars on Jefferson St. (near W. 7th) were broken into. Stereo systems and speakers were ripped out and other items stolen. One car in particular suffered $4000 of damage and nothing was stolen except prescription sunglasses.

We need to be vigilant about keeping our eyes and ears open. Have a conversation with your neighbors and discuss the situation so everyone is aware and willing to call police and/or their neighbors should a suspicious situation arise. Take special consideration to where you park your cars. Motion lights and security lighting are a good idea.

Remember that our neighbors on W. 7th also recently had both of their cars stolen: a Maroon 1996 Volvo 850 Turbo Wagon and a Gold 1997 Previa Minivan. At last report, they had not been found or returned. The family is very upset about it- (and without cars!)

There was also an unverified report about an attempted truck theft on Hewett (on the West side of Dutton) on Sunday night.

Our next West End Neighborhood Association meeting is on Thursday, March 18th at 7 p.m. at the Assistance League of So. Co. 5 W. 6th Street. As a timely coincidence, one of our special guests is Santa Rosa’s new Chief of Police, Tom Schwedhelm.

A Boyce Street Neighbor reports:

Yesterday morning I came out to find my drivers side window completely shattered. Another neighbor, who lives a block down, found her back window shattered as well. We suspect it was bb guns, as the windows were not broken in and nothing was taken. It must have occurred Wednesday (July 8th) late at night.

We’re both filing police reports. Please let people know to be on the look out, we suspect teenagers with bb guns.

Thanks for sharing your updates with neighbors and for filing a report with the SRPD. This way all West End Neighbors can be aware of this problem.
