A report from a neighbor:

Hello everyone

On Wednesday morning, around 9:30am, a person came into our fenced-in yard and stole a bike while we were home. We live in the alleyway between 10th and 11th between Ripley and Cleveland. The bike is a chromed Ross mountain bike frame converted into a “townie” street bike by fellow west ender Brooks Van Holt of Bicycle Czar. The bike has Continental “town and county” street tires, a black seat with “An-Atomica” printed on it, a red rear flasher, black hand grips, and Bicycle Czar stickers on the neck and front fork. It is a nice bike, not a beater.    Please contact me if you see it around. Thank you  Mike Heaviside     206-7733

Hi Upper WE neighbors.
Russ Toran of Ripley St (near 11th) reports:

Sometime Tuesday(Sept 1st) evening my car stereo was vandalized. It was one of those kind that has a face plate that is removable but the radio/cd player cannot be taken so they took the face plate. I am at fault because I did not lock my car doors. So the message to everybody is ” be very diligent in locking your vehicles because there are prowlers walking around looking for unlocked vehicles”.

Thank you Russ for keeping us informed. This alert will also go to the West End website for distribution.

Be alert of suspicious activity, especially late at night. Call SRPD emergency 911, nonemergency 528-5222.

We would like to thank, Jennifer Watson, Upper West End Neighborhood Watch Coordinator,  for vitalizing the “Watch” program in the Ripley, Lincoln area. Neighbors working together make a difference.

Recent Press Democrat articles regarding area crime:

Suspicious Death at Homeless Encampment- 11th & Cleveland

Dead SR transient identified, Cause still unknown

This is an issue that City of Santa Rosa, SMART, the property owner and the West End Neighborhood need to address.

Hey,
My sister-in-law’s car was broken into last night and everything was stolen from inside (CDs, clothes, change, etc.). They tore apart the inside and left the rear door open and her lights on. Could you give the neighborhood a heads up? Thanks.

The most important facet of Neighborhood Watch is communication. Thank you, Carol for keeping your West End Neighbors informed.

Be alert of suspicious activity, especially late at night. Call the SRPD emergency 911; nonemergency 528-5222.

Bikes stolen, perhaps flag found?

A neighbor reports: Hi there–I really hate hearing about things being stolen lately–here is some more news. #1– I live at 323 Decker and my neighbor–had a bicycle stolen out of his yard three nights ago (approx. 7/29). One of my neighbors observed two men looking into my window about 11:30 p.m. while I was gone–(no car in my carport for a couple of days)–so they kindly put their car in my carport to make my house look occupied!!! It was Carol and Guy Dean that was so thoughtful.

#2–While I was shopping –I think it was Tues–someone placed a flag in my carport!!!! It is one of those wind types still attached to a pole– Is that yours??? I was told by my neighbors that they observed a homeless guy (his name is James–perhaps you know him) sitting on my porch–and there was the flag.

Neighborhood watch is about folks keeping an eye out and communicating. Thanks for keeping your neighbors informed.

Keep current on all the West End News- check updates on the website.
