Tomorrow night promises to be delightful reunion of neighbors and friends at Bocce… dress in layers- it might be a little chilly. Saturday’s Luther Burbank Parade should be lovely. Weather predictions state that there might be rain on Monday for the AMGEN and downtown festivals- let’s hope they’re wrong.

This Friday night- May 14th at 6 p.m.- West End Summer Bocce‘s opening night. DeMeo Park awaits.  Neighbors have spent time prepping the courts and spreading new trail bark in the social area. Time to get together and socialize, play bocce and savor shared treats. See you there!

May 15th Saturday 10am- 116th Annual Luther Burbank Rose Parade: This is a classic Santa Rosa event, wholesome goodness within minutes of your front door. As an added bonus, a West End favorite, Krank-Boom-Clank, creators of the World Famous Hennepin Crawler is scheduled to appear at the parade. Details:  a limited number of bikes available for a 25 mile “spin” out Valley Ford-Roblar, Call now to  reserve a 2010 Cannondale Demo bike.  Monday May 17th show up at 9am, ride at 10am. May 13th, Thursday     16th Annual Bike to Work Day.   Bike to Work Day is the premier bicycling event taking place in all of Northern California- all nine Bay Area counties participate. The event is just one day of many events taking place in May as part of National Bike Month. May 17, Monday Tour of California Stage Two Finish: For the fifth consecutive year, the Tour of California returns to Santa Rosa. Best Place to Watch: The Stage 2 Finish Line at Third Street and Santa Rosa Avenue in Courthouse Square or Railroad Square will be a perfect vantage point from which to cheer on the cyclists as they make their last push down Wilson Street on the way to the finish line. The riders are expected to enter downtown Santa Rosa around 3 PM on Monday, May 17th.  Many activities and a festival is planned.  The band Baby Seal Club will on the Santa Rosa Festival stage from 12:00- 2:30pm. March 3, Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.- City of S. R.  Neighborhood Meeting for New Railroad Square Project (SMART site). Meeting location: Chop’s DeMeo Teen Club, 509 Adams Street. You are invited to attend a meeting regarding the New Railroad Square Project. March 5th, Friday- Street Sweeping. Move your cars off the curb for early morning cleaning of debris and leaves. This is especially important during the rainy season.

April 24th, Saturday at 11 a.m.- West End Annual Bocce Court cleanup at DeMeo Park. Neighbors prepare the courts for our Summer bocce season. Bring tools and gloves. Don’t forget a hat and sunblock.

May 1, Saturday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.- West End Neighborhood Garage sale. It’s time for Spring Cleaning! Join your neighbors in reducing storage and making room. The garage sale will be publicized- if you would like to participate pitch in $5 to help cover the costs. Rain Day – May 8th.

May 14th, Friday 6 p.m.- West End Summer Bocce season begins. Join your friends and neighbors to dine, dish the dirt and, of course, play bocce! Bring food or drink to share. Everyone is welcomed. A good event for children and well-behaved dogs. Season ends on Sept. 17th.

On Sunday September 27th, throngs of folks attended the 2nd Annual Dr. Erasmus P. Kitty’s Great West End & Railroad Square Regatta. The temperatures blazed over 100 degrees, but it didn’t put a damper on the festivities. It was a wondrous medley of hand car racing, costumes, music, food , Victorian sideshows and curiosities.

The Regatta weekend kicked off this evening with the CHOPS Teen Club Regatta Gala. The CHOPS art car was unveiled and will compete this Sunday at the Regatta. The Hubbub Club played as Gala attendees enjoyed selected works from the CHOPS summer artist series. See Photos from Gala- Press here.

ANTIBOREDOM and The Secret Eating Society present… a spy game to happen during the Handcar Regatta. When only one player is left, we will gather to eat and celebrate the victor (and make everyone who didn’t get to play really, really jealous). When BANDITS has run it’s course, Tyson “Dinner Bell” Ducker will serve up a couple more to complete the game with a square meal! Tyson is the Chef at Fisher Vineyards, a world traveler, has proof his baby’s been to Africa, and is a resident of the West End Neighborhood in Santa Rosa, CA.

Last Saturday’s Bocce clean up was a huge success. Several hardworking neighbors spread wood chips and fresh bocce mix to make DeMeo Park ready for this year’s season. Bocce mix and lavatory has been donated by the West End Neighborhood Association. Your dues at work!

The Hennepin Crawler is in the Luther Burbank Parade and needs flowers for decoration. Flowers need to be tough enough to last 15 hours. Red and white colors most preferred.
