The West End Full Moon Tour was a great success. Tour leader and host, Allen Thomas led folks through the time to the West End in the late 1940s. The moon was gorgeous and enticed the spirit of Isaac DeTurk to regal folks with the history of his barn. Everyone had a blast at Starks where they enjoyed food, Full Moon cocktails and the wonderful Fondettes. Thanks to Bill Montgomery (aka Isaac DeTurk), Franco American Bakery, the Fondettes and Starks Steakhouse.

The West End Summer bocce season officially ended last night. Lots of folks came out to spend one more pleasant evening in DeMeo Park. We have many people to thank: Our  sponsors and those of you who purchased West End “Boogie Night” tshirts- your contribution helped pay for over $1000 of  Bocce costs this year ( New bocce surface, new bocce ball set and lavatory for the summer).  Kernan Coleman for his excellent Tshirt design. Marc Richardson, City of Santa Rosa Rec and Parks, for working with us to help make our Bocce night a success.

Lost long board alert: Tait left his longboard at DeMeo Park last night ( Last Bocce night- Sept. 18th) and it is naturally gone   this morning. It is a nice one – wood with grip tape on top. On thebottom on the board there is a blue spitfire sticker with a surf/beach scene in yellow and orange. Also says Gravity on it. Mind putting the word out? Tait would love to get it back. Hopefully someone saw it and brought it home hoping to find the owner. Contact Tim Sarter [dumbob@earthlink.net]

Next Upcoming events are: The Great West End & Railroad Square Hand-Car Regatta September 27th and the West End Full Moon Tour October 4th.

Dear West End Neighbors,

Full Moon Tour

Theresa plays West End's Lena circa 1945

Full Moon Tour
The Full Moon Tour was a wonderful event. West End residents, friends and new aquaintances were treated to a tour of the West End in the 40s. Everyone was surprised to meet up with West End restaurant and legend, Lena Blake Bonfigli who told us a little about life in the neighborhood during the war. After an aromatic tour of Franco American Bakery, we ended the evening at Toad in the Hole where we socialized and listened to the accordion stylings of Amber Lee Baker (soon to be West End resident- welcome Amber!)

For those of you who ordered shirts, they are on the way and we will let you know when they are in.

Santa Rosa Pugs “Howl-O-Ween”
The Santa Rosa Pugs “Howl-O-Ween” party was a the De Turk Round Barn on Sunday. It was a delightful party of costumed dogs. West End resident Chug Coleman-Jones won first place in the costume contest- his costume was designed by his grandma Marge!

Don’t forget Railroad Scare, a well-loved Halloween event in Railroad Square. It’s this Saturday, October 25th 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There’s a children’s parade, dog parade and scarecrow contest. It’s a lots of fun.
