Thanksgiving already? Time for a feast, family and/or friends and the start of the holiday season. Oh… and Brrrrrr! The weather is going to get cold. Press Democrat: Wrap up your pipes and plants, freezing temperatures on the way

The West End Neighborhood Fall Meeting brought residents together to talk about the neighborhood we live in. We learned about  the impressive list of Chop’s classes and activities from Diana Curtin, Executive Director of Chop’s Teen Club. The Chop’s facility is also rents out space for meetings, parties or workshops… and has catering available. (For more info call Melissa Stewart, Food Service and Events Manager 707-284-2467 X 17)  Cheryl Itamura, Managing Director of the 6th Street Playhouse invited everyone to their old fashioned Holiday Open House that will feature backstage tours, holiday cookies and snacks, hot apple cider, eggnog, music, song, good cheer and best of all it is FREE!  (December 12, Sunday from 4:00 – 6:00 PM No RSVP is necessary, just come as you are.) City Council member, Ernesto Olivares was our guest speaker. He told us about his background in law enforcement and his priorities on city council. He gave the neighbors an opportunity to ask him questions, make comments and give input… and West End Neighbors are always happy to comply. The word on the street is the Ernesto will most likely be our next Mayor- so it was especially nice to get the opportunity to know him better. Press Democrat: Olivares in line to be Santa Rosa’s next mayor

Train Cars on SMART site- They have been a part of this area for so long that many of us don’t even notice them anymore.  A few of us have actually been inside them to see the beautiful rehab job- a labor of love of owner, Wes Vail. We had always hoped that one day they would have a permanent home in Railroad Square but that just didn’t happen. By the end of this month, the train cars will go to their new home, a train museum somewhere in the Eureka area.
