If you want to get a little crazy, this is a good week to do it. Lots of opportunities to see local West End performing artists- and the biggest event actually requires a straight jacket (or perhaps a bathrobe and medication).

July 27th, Tuesday night. Toad in the Hole’s 3 year anniversary Party. The Deluxe Buckets will bust out some good ol’fashioned swampabilly- zombitandem-tacotruckin-goodtime tunes. Plus, the troublemakers will be haulin’ out the big contraptions for the summer fun of it and because the Toad has always been ready with beer and support for The Builders. July 31st, Saturday, 9 p.m. Feeling demented? Perfect! Lunatic Binge will encourage you right off the deep end. A benefit fundraiser for Baby Seal Club’s upcoming CD- but you actually benefit because you get to see the 3 local bands including West End Favorites- Baby Seal Club and the Deluxe Buckets! $10 in costume ( $15 without). Baby Seal Club -Lunatic Binge

August 1, Sunday 5- 7 p.m. Baby Seal Club at Live at Julliard Park – 17th Annual 2010 Summer Concert Series . Extend the weekend, come and enjoy a picnic dinner on a summer Sunday evening filled with music, fun and food. Bring your blankets and lawn chairs and sit back and enjoy the entertainment. Bring your picnic dinner or purchase it from Worth Our Weight Culinary program or purchase a delicious coffee drink from The Coffee Girls. All performances are free.

There are 2 great opportunities to hear music this week- especially if you are a Hank Williams fan!

Bocce Court clean up this Saturday 11 a.m.

Lots to do this weekend- but don’t forget the West End Bocce Court cleanup!

April 24th, Saturday at 11 a.m.- Bocce Court Clean up at DeMeo Park. A yearly tradition, spruce up the courts for the West End Summer Bocce Season. Bring tools, gloves and don’t forget the sunblock. Plan to have a snack because the West End Charter School will hold a bake sale at the clean up.

Do you have plant containers to spare? The roses at the DeTurk Park Vintage Rose Garden will be removed and stored early next week. Gina will have lots of rescued plants to give to neighbors soon. She is requesting donations of 1 gallon, a few 5 gallon and she especially would like 2 gallons plant containers. If you have some to spare, drop them off at her house at 114 W. 8th. (It’s a house with a gorgeous garden, of course!)

Dan Wright & Gina prepared the roses for removal today.

Miss Kitty and the Big Dogs- played recently at Cafe Azul. Great musicians playing jump/blues swing. They had them dancing on the sidewalk. West End musician Tim Sarter on bass. Watch them in action- click here!

Don’t let Tax Day get you down. There’s lots of fun things to attend- Music, Earth Day, Pugs and West End talent - You choose!

Can you sing? April 15th, Thursday- Audition to sing the National Anthem at the AMGEN Tour of California! Wine Country Radio is holding auditions for their annual Anthem Contest, 6-8 p.m. at the Russian River Brewing Company. Come prepared to belt out the National Anthem on stage and have your performance video taped. The top 5 performers will have their videos posted on Wine Country Radio websites for radio listeners to vote on their favorite, who will ultimately sing the anthem at the AMGEN Tour of California celebration in Santa Rosa on May 17th! April 15th Thursday 7-9 p.m. – Free Live Swing and Jump Blues!! Miss Kitty & the Big Dogs. West End’s Tim Sarter plays bass. Free all ages show at Cafe Azul, 521 4th St. Next to Checkers.
