For May, 6th Street Playhouse welcomes spring and “Souvenir” ~ The musical comedy about a woman who wanted to sing in the worst way. Fair warning now….”The Producers” are coming to the West End Neighborhood in June

MAY:

May 6th, Sunday-  6th Street IMPROV! Mother’s Day Show Come celebrate Mother’s Day early with the 6th Street IMPROV!  This hilarious troupe presents a special Mother’s Day Show entitled “Mother’s Day High Jinx”  GK Hardt Theatre Time: 8 p.m.

Through Sunday, May 13 “The Marvelous Wonderettes” This sweet blast to the past follows four high school girls who step in at the last minute as entertainers at their Springfield High School Senior Prom. Directed by Craig A. Miller (A West Ender!) GK Hardt Theatre

The Marvelous Wonderettes

May 11th to May 27th- “Souvenir,” 6th Street Playhouse recounts the unusual musical career of wealthy socialite Florence Foster Jenkins, who became famous for her uncertain sense of pitch and key. Perhaps more famous now than when she pursued her dream, Florence Foster Jenkins efforts to become a great coloratura soprano led to fame and notoriety with annual private recitals at the Ritz Carlton Hotel; a sold-out concert at Carnegie Hall in 1944; and an impressive list of celebrity fans of her day. Directed by Michael Fontaine. The Studio Theater

JUNE:

June 15th to July 15th, “The Producers” Only Mel Brooks could come up with this outrageous, teeny bit offensive, off the wall story about the greatest show business scam ever. “The Producers” follows Max Bialystock and Leo Bloom as they sing and dance their way down Broadway waiting for a cash windfall, when their sure-to-flop, masterpiece of awfulness ~ “Springtime for Hitler” ~ turns out to be the biggest hit that ever landed on the Great White Way. Sylvester needs to go home… or perhaps needs a new home- From a neighbor…..We woke this morning to the meowing of a wayward cat. Black with a white chest and little white on the face, also featuring white feet.  Seems pretty well domesticated but could have been on the lam for a while.  This feline seems to have adopted our porch at 115 6th Street, right next door to the Redwood Gospel Mission.   We’re putting some food out to keep him/her around, in hopes the owners will read this.  We can’t take him/her in due to our resident bunnies. This is a great opportunity for neighborhood kids and parents to get together….
Neighborhhod Kid's Talent Show

Hey neighbors,

We have a few local kiddos (and need more) that want to show off their
talents. Allen and Lea have graciously offered to host the kids talent
show on Sunday, May 22 about 3pm.
It will be a small “low key” talent show. Please bring a kid, an act
and some wine or a snack to share.

Smiles, Jacquie

Any questions, ideas or RSVP to  jacquelinedl@earthlink.net

Remember, low key and fun is the idea. Kids can sing, play the kazoo, lip sync, recite a poem, perform magic tricks, tell jokes, act in a skit with other kids, juggle or display tricks they’ve taught the dog.

Did you lose a kitten? Hi- I live on Pierson street and a tuxedo kitty wandered onto my back deck last night. He’s about 2-3 months old, very sleek with short black hair, a white chest and stomach and white sox on all four feet. Purrs all the time, very aggressive for petting. I hope the owner can reclaim him soon.   Terrie  415 794 9139  (yes I know it’s an SF area code but I’m in Santa Rosa)

Roaming Pit bulls FYI- Just wanted to let you/neighborhood know there were two pit bulls on the loose Sunday morning (March 27th)  on W. 7th  (approx. 8-8:30a.m.).  One was brown and one was brindled.  They attacked one of our cats on my mom’s porch and would have torn her apart if my husband had not gone out to chase them away.  They seemed a bit aggressive.  When Josh chased them away, they headed off towards Trowbridge and then west.  We called animal control, but I doubt they were able to find them.  I’m guessing they went back home.
