The West End Neighborhood has met for various purposes as far back as the 1970s and became an Association in 1984. Our main goal is to provide neighborhood input to the City of Santa Rosa, particularly in the areas of current or planned developments, crime prevention, street conditions, lighting, preservation and the revitalization of our beloved neighborhood. We’ve established a Neighborhood Watch program and worked with the SRPD to implement Neighborhood Oriented Policing. We were instrumental in getting alcohol out of neighborhood parks. We strive to have well-managed rentals by working closely with landlords. In some cases, when all else has failed, neighbors have united to sue a landlord and a property owner in two separate cases for nuisance

Friends & Activities. The West End Neighborhood is a “front porch” neighborhood where neighbors know each other and greet friends as they walk by. Residents can walk to shopping, dining and have easy access to the Santa Rosa Creek and miles of hiking and bike trails. Whether it’s for fun, exercise or work- today’s West End Neighborhood has friendly residents who are interested in their neighborhood and like to mingle. Neighbors also work together for improvement projects.

De Turk Round Barn Park has a Dog Park which is the social center for West End dogs and their owners. De Meo Park has playground equipment, a basketball hoop and a nice area to picnic. It also has bocce courts where West End Bocce is played every Friday night in the Summer. The De Turk Round Barn Park Vintage Rose garden was funded by a grant procured by WNA.  The heritage roses were selected and planted by neighbors. Neighbors tend the bocce courts at DeMeo Park and help ensure cleanup at DeTurk Round Barn Dog Park.

West End residents and the City of Santa Rosa have created numerous events that highlight our downtown neighborhood and the adjoining Railroad Square. A few exciting events of note are:

  • Allen Thomas created The West End Full Moon Tour which is held every year since 2005 in October.  moontour@sonic.net for more info
  • There is also a new annual event planned its second year, The Great West End and Railroad Square Handcar Regatta conceived by another West End resident, Ty Jones.
  • Kelly Cowan and Fritz Wisor produced the West End Alley Cat Race — a bicycle scavenger hunt and food drive that debuted in September 2008.
  • Kelly Cowan also produced The Santa Rosa Gong Show that debuted in February of 2010.
