Courthouse Square Closed to Through Traffic August 5, 2016.
As part of the Reunification of Courthouse Square, Mendocino Avenue, between Third Street and Fourth Street Downtown will be permanently closed to through traffic on Friday, August 5, 2016. The City of SR suggests that the preferred detour is to reroute all Mendocino Ave. traffic through the St. Rose Historic District and anticipates that it may take several weeks for motorists to adjust to the road closure and change their travel habits. Motorists are advised to allow for additional travel time during this period of adjustment. The hope is that this controversial $9,199,103 project will eventually encourage residents and visitors to shop, dine, and recreate locally. Increased patronage to the Downtown area will help grow our local economy and provide much needed sales tax revenue for community programs throughout Santa Rosa. August 12th– 27th Shakespeare in the Cannery- The Plot Against Shakespeare. Be sure to bring your own chairs and/or blankets and remember to bring something warm to wear because it tends to get cold at the outdoor venue. Bring your picnic dinner to enjoy at the Cannery before the show!
