Bocce, Eight Belles and Cow Bells

  The Santa Rosa Marathon’s 5K race will be running right through the West End THIS Sunday. (See entire info below) Runners should be in the West End from 7:40 to about 8:10. If you live on W. 8th, Madison or W. 6th you can sit on your front porch and cheer the racers. If don’t live on the route… but still want to give a West End welcome to the racers, meet us at DeTurk Park at 7:30 a.m. We will have coffee and cowbells.

West End Summer Bocce– Every Friday in DeMeo Park. A great time to socialize in a casual setting. You never know when a musical guest will perform. Fun for adults, kids and dogs. Bring some food to share. Location: DeMeo Park Time: 6 p.m.

August 24th, Friday-  Eight Belles, The Chelsea Seat, Paula Frazer and Virgil Shaw. This is going to be a pretty special show! Four fantastic artists. Virgil Shaw will be playing with West Ender Henry Nagle in the barroom between sets. Hopefully you’re already aware of how frighteningly wonderful he is. Not to be missed! August 26th, Sunday- Santa Rosa Marathon/5 K Race: A brand new 5k course will be redesigned to run through the West End, downtown Santa Rosa and Railroad Square! 5K Map (.pdf) (Sorry! Marathon and half marathon are sold out.) All Participants will receive a T-shirt, free pancake breakfast, free coffee, Kids Jumpy and free basket to fill up with free fruit and veggies from local farmers. Cheer on the Boston qualifier and enjoy the after race festival at Juilliard Park.  All participants will be timed. More info: www.thesantarosamarathon

September 15th, Saturday- Back to the Future. Go back in time to celebrate the Lena’s era, and come back to the future to support our teen community! Volunteers Needed. Fun children’s/family event– September 29th, Saturday- Actors’ Theater for Children -Happy 40th Birthday Party. The City of S. R. Rec & parks and Actors’ Theater for Children are holding a party to celebrate 40 years of bringing live theater to the children of So. Co. Volunteers are needed to help with children’s games (like Bean Bag Toss, Sticky Darts), Food and refreshment, Information booth and more. This  is a family event and open to the public.
