West End DJ Katie Vrooman has a new specialty show that airs on the Krush 95.9 on Sunday nights from 10 p.m. to midnight. It’s called  “Great Dames, Vintage Chicks,” a collection of torch singers, big band singers and jazz vocalists from the 1930′s- 1960′s. Katie hand selects all the music from the show and talks about it as well. You can also hear Katie on Monday- Friday during mid-day- But the Sunday night show is about female singers who “carry the torch”. The KRUSH 95.9

Spring flowers are popping out. If you have time, take a stroll around the West End to see them in bloom.

West End Musician Justin Barr plays in not one but two bands. St. Peterbilt – Sonoma County’s finest double clutchin’, scale jumpin’, mile makin’, tailgaitin’, possum squashin’, cop dodgin’, pinballin’, jackknifen’, gear bustin’ sort of a band and  Quarter Mile Combo a pure rockin’ Americana Rockabilly act!  The Quarter Mile Combos backbone is kept solid by drummer Gary Daly, and Todd Troublemaker’s upright bass slappin’. Justin Barr slings sweeping guitar solos and riffs alongside powerhouse vocalist, front woman, Nettie Hammar. With their recent release of “Motels, Gas and Beer”, The Quarter Mile Combo’s live show will take you down an electrifying winding road of good time rock n roll! Quarter Mile Combo has a  European tour slated for June 2010. Quarter Mile Combo

By Jean Baptiste Moliere    Directed by Sheri Lee Miller  A French classic that shines a remarkable reflection on our modern times, Moliere’s most successful comedy “Tartuffe” (first performed in 1664) still holds up with its satirical attacks on religious and social hypocrisy.

Believe it or not! The DeTurk Round Barn Project is at hand. The construction fencing is planned to start going up this week, with basic facilities for the contractor in place by next week. The project will start in earnest by the end of next week.

Two important issues to the West End: Yes, the dog park will be functioning at all times during this project and yes, the West End Historic Rose Garden will be removed but replaced in a new spot.  More info as it comes available.
