West End Neighbor, Carol Ciavonne found a  kitten on her porch last night (Tuesday, Feb. 24th). If you are missing a kitten, her phone #  is 527-9008.

I have a pet alert. Last night, when it rained cats and dogs, it really did rain a cat onto my porch. It was a drenched and bedraggled kitten, very affectionate. I am wondering if someone has lost a kitten? He seems well fed, and has puffed out.   It looks siamese-y, but not siamese and it has blue eyes, and a long grayish tail. It’s kind of a creamy color but with the siamese face markings. Extremely cute, and very affectionate. I am sorry to say that I am not sure of the sex, but I think it is a boy.

Speaking of talented neighbors, The Gong Show (Produced by West End resident Kelly Cowan) was by all accounts,  smashing success. If you missed the show- you can still enjoy the show on video.  The West End would like to thank Marcy Mendelson for catching Carmen Miranda on video. ( Marcy has also offered to help Carmen work on some “killer” samba moves!)  The talented and dashing Clifford Hill has also taken photos of the event.

If you missed the Railroad Square Mardi Gras parade, don’t fret… there’s still more to do this week!

The Mardi Gras Parade was full of enthusiasm, laughter and music. It was a bit like First Night- when strangers met in the street to celebrate in the downtown. The Last Day Saloon’s featured act for the evening, Rythmntown Jive led the jubilant crowd through the welcoming restaurants (except one uncelebratory coffee shop who had posted guards!). To see the parade in progress- click here!
